Storage area networks (SAN)

We design, modernize and expand FC storage fabrics — with no service downtime and with redundancy across two independent fabrics.

Challenges we address

  • SAN directors and switches are outdated and due for replacement
  • Port count and bandwidth can no longer keep up with growing data volumes
  • A single fabric is a single point of failure for all storage systems
  • Servers, storage arrays and tape libraries must move to a new fabric without downtime

What we do

  1. FC fabric design

Fibre Channel SAN architecture sized for current load and future growth.

  2. Two independent A/B fabrics

Redundancy at the storage network level: if one fabric fails, services keep running.

  3. Zero-downtime migration

We move servers, storage arrays and tape libraries between fabrics following a plan with checkpoints.

  4. Consolidation and growth

We add ports and increase port speeds to keep pace with growing data volumes.

  5. Vendor comparison and sizing

We compare vendors and size the equipment with no lock-in to a single vendor.

Non-disruptive SAN fabric modernization

Challenge
Replace end-of-life Brocade directors and switches and move the entire workload to a new storage network without taking services down.
What we did
We built a next-generation FC SAN on two independent A/B fabrics and migrated servers, storage systems and the tape library onto it without downtime. We have delivered projects like this before.
Result

A modern storage network with headroom in bandwidth and port count — and zero service downtime.

Questions and answers

Can a SAN be modernized with no service downtime?
Yes, migration runs between two independent A/B fabrics following a plan with checkpoints: servers, storage arrays and tape libraries move to the new fabric with no downtime. That is how outdated Brocade directors and switches were replaced in the “SAN fabric modernization with no business downtime” project.
Which SAN equipment vendors do you work with?
Our main vendors are Brocade (SAN fabrics) and Lenovo (our key hardware partner). We also work with H3C, Hitachi Vantara, Everpure, Dell Technologies and Quantum — makers of FC-compatible storage systems and tape libraries we build fabrics with; we compare equipment with no lock-in to a single vendor.
What does redundancy across two independent A/B fabrics provide?
This redundancy removes the single point of failure: if one fabric fails, the other keeps serving all storage systems with no service downtime.
How can a SAN be expanded when port count and bandwidth run short of growing data volumes?
Port capacity and speed are added as data grows, and before expansion vendors and equipment are compared and sized for the specific load.
Our approach

The full cycle under one roof

  1. Audit and assessment

Inventory, workload analysis, IT and security risk assessment

  2. Design

Architecture, sizing, vendor comparison, procurement specifications

  3. Supply

Hardware and licenses from 35+ vendors, import and logistics

  4. Deployment and migration

Commissioning, zero-downtime data and system migration, acceptance testing

  5. Training

Knowledge transfer to your IT team, courses on databases, security and AI

  6. 24/7/365 support

    SLAs, monitoring, updates, vendor support

One team owns the project from assessment to day-to-day operations — no gaps in accountability between the supplier, the integrator and the service provider.
